Mariah Butts (born November 23rd, 1991) is a graduate student in the Queens College GSLIS program living in Brooklyn, NY. She received her Bachelors of Liberal Studies from Bowling Green State University before relocating to New York. Mariah currently works as a crew member at Trader Joe's.
Early Life
Mariah was born in Kentucky, but spent the majority of her childhood in Perrysburg, OH. She attended Perrysburg High School where she graduated with honors in 2010. Mariah played trumpet in marching band, and was a section leader her senior year. She also participated in French Club, National Honors Society, and Speech and Debate, and was a founding member of Philosophy club.
College
Mariah attended college at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH. She originally majored in Biology but switching to Liberal Studies her third year. She was an active member of FORCE (Feminist Organization Raising Consciousness and Empowerment), serving as Treasurer, PR Chair, and Vice President during her college career. Mariah was played with Hayabusa Taiko Ensemble and sang in the University Choral Society.
Work Experience
Mariah has held a variety of jobs since starting college. Most of her experience has been customer facing, and she has held several managerial positions. Her resume includes experience with the following companies and non-profits:

Brooklyn and Grad School
Mariah relocated to Brooklyn, NY with her partner in January of 2017. She is now attending Queens College and is working towards a Masters in Library and Information Science through their GSLIS program. Currently, Mariah is taking GSLIS 700 where she is learning about how technology is used in libraries. She has completed several web-based projects for this class, including this Wiki page!
